Job Purpose 

As an SDR (Sales Development Representative), your primary responsibility will be to generate qualified meetings with prospective customers.  You will be following up leads and carrying out your own outreach to companies that match the ideal RoleMapper client profile. 

Some of what you’ll be doing as an SDR: 

  • Contacting potential customers by phone and email to arrange initial meetings 
  • Carrying out first stage qualification by asking the right questions  
  • Researching prospects using LinkedIn and web tools to identify ideal customers 
  • Creating and maintaining prospect lists in HubSpot (our CRM tool) 
  • Supporting outbound campaigns via email, LinkedIn, and other digital channels 
  • Monitoring and tracking campaign responses, updating the CRM accordingly 
  • Shadowing sales team colleagues on qualification and discovery calls 
  • Handling follow-up actions and booking meetings for team members 
  • Keeping CRM data clean, updated, and well-organised 
  • Learning about our market, our ideal clients, and how the SaaS (Software as a Service) sales process works in practice 
  • Representing our brand values with professionalism and enthusiasm 

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a mix of people skills, curiosity, learning agility and drive. We’re looking for someone who can

  • Demonstrate experience in a customer-facing or administrative/support role, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage tasks in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Show willingness to engage confidently over the phone, asking insightful questions, and actively listening to understand customer needs. 
  • Demonstrate motivation to work towards targets, with a strong drive to meet and exceed goals in a results-oriented environment. 
  • Display the ability to learn quickly, adapt to new information, and apply feedback to improve performance.   

You’ll thrive in this role if you: 

  • Are highly organised, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, managing your time and priorities effectively. 
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Use digital tools with confidence and show enthusiasm for learning new platforms (e.g. HubSpot, LinkedIn). 
  • Have natural curiosity, enjoying research and problem-solving. 
  • Thrive in a fast-moving, collaborative team environment, contributing positively to shared goals. 
  • Are able to commute easily to London or Guildford, with the ability to attend in-person meetings as needed (this could be up to weekly for the first few months):

Salary & Benefits  

Salary range £26,000 - £32,000 p/a (depending on your experience and whether you are based in London, or elsewhere) plus commission.  OTE up to around £40,000. 

In addition to 25 days of holiday we have a paid shutdown period between Christmas and New Year which equates to an additional 3 to 5 days, depending on where the holidays land. We have also introduced “breathe” time giving the team downtime to “stop the train”, take a breath, catch-up and re-group.

Flexible Working 

This is a permanent role with remote working, and some days in London or Guildford for in-person meetings—especially in the first few months.

Location 

Although our registered office is based in Exeter, we operate as a fully remote team across various locations. We hold regular in-person team collaboration days in both Exeter and London; therefore, the successful candidate should be located within reasonable travelling distance of at least one of these locations. For this role, you should also be able to commute easily to London or Guildford for in-person meetings as needed—this could be up to weekly during the first few months.

  1. CEO Interview 
  1. An opportunity to meet members of the team to introduce yourself and get the chance to ask questions and understand the current state  
  1. An hour-long work-based assessment where you will present back your thoughts on a number of specific tasks   
  1. Psychometric (Wave) assessment (to explore your natural working style) alongside a values-based interview (something very important to us here at RoleMapper)  

While there are quite a few steps, we try to do these as quickly as we can. We ideally aim for all of this to happen over a 2-week period.
